Pregnancy After Loss

Nobody warns you that a positive test after loss can feel more terrifying than exciting.

Pregnancy after loss is hard in ways that are almost impossible to explain to someone who hasn't been there. Most people think the pregnancy is the happy ending. For those who have experienced loss, it is rarely that simple. Getting pregnant again doesn't fix anything. It just adds a whole new layer.

Every appointment, every symptom, every quiet moment becomes something to interpret. The joy you expected to feel is there, but so is the grief, the hypervigilance, the exhaustion of trying to protect yourself from another heartbreak while also letting yourself hope. And the hardest part? Most people around you don't understand why you aren't just happy.

This is some of the most nuanced work I do, and it is work I take seriously. I support individuals and couples through the full arc of pregnancy after loss, from the first positive test through delivery and beyond. This is a space where you don't have to be okay. Where the fear gets as much room as the hope.

Holding both at the same time is its own kind of hard. You don't have to do it alone.
